Jabber lets you connect and collaborate with your Stanford colleagues through a variety of communication channels using your computer.
System requirements
For best results when troubleshooting Cisco Jabber for Mac issues, use the Reset Jabber function to clear cached data before reproducing the issue and running the logs. The option to reset Jabber is only available if you are not currently logged in. Solution: To generate a Cisco Jabber for Mac log: Launch Cisco Jabber for Mac. Jabber version 9.2.1 for Windows and MAC is End of Life/End of Support which is why it's not available for download. End-of-Life and End-of-Support Announcement for Cisco Jabber for Mac Versions 9.2x. End-of-Life and End-of-Support Announcement for Cisco Jabber for Windows Versions 9.2x.
Download Client from right (Windows or Mac). Open Cisco Jabber. Login with your HCC email address and password. DOWNLOAD CLIENT Cisco Jabber. Download Jabber from: Cisco Jabber Installation File for MAC or access the End-User Guide from Cisco website. Launch CiscoJabberMac-12.1.1.269866.pkg.

Installation
- Download Cisco Jabber for Mac.
- Double-click the downloaded file from your browser and then double-click the Install_Cisco-Jabber-Mac.sparkle_guided.pkg file to start the Cisco Jabber installer wizard.
- When the Welcome screen displays, click Continue.
- Read the license agreement if you wish and then click Continue. Click Agree to accept the terms of the license agreement and continue with the installation.
- You may be prompted to select the disk where you want to install Jabber. Select your hard drive and then click Continue.
- Click Install to perform the standard installation.
- At the prompt, enter your administrator account password for the Mac and click Install Software.
- When the software has finished installing, click Close.
Sign in
- To launch Jabber, open your Applications folder and double-click the Cisco Jabber.app icon.
- Enter your sunetid@stanford (for University affiliates), [email protected] (for SHC affiliates), or your login [email protected] (SCH affiliates) and click Continue.
- For Stanford University affiliates, the WebLogin screen appears. Enter your SUNet ID and your SUNet ID password and click Login. Two-step authentication may also be required. Stanford Children's Health and Stanford Health Care affiliates will be prompted to enter their password.
Sign out
- Click Jabber in the Apple menu bar and then click Sign Out.

Jabber App
Cisco Jabber offers secure collaboration with campus contacts and is available for use on PC or Mac, as well as mobile devices such as Android, iPhone/iPod, and iPad. You can use Cisco Jabber as a chat client-only, or enable the additional Jabber Softphone feature to use your computer as a phone, without the need of a physical desk phone.
Cisco Jabber brings together all of the following features:
- Connect from anywhere!– VPN not required to use Cisco Jabber when off-campus.
- Multi-line Support – Enables users to place or receive calls from up to 8 assigned directory lines.
- Instant Messaging – Chat with campus contacts.

- Presence – Display your presence or any custom status. On the go? Now you can share your Location!
- Alert when Available – Receive alerts when a contact becomes available.

- You may use Jabber as a phone, or
- Jabber can remote control your desk phone*
- Voicemail – Listen to and manage your voice messages.
- File Transfer – Transfer files via FTP to other Cisco Jabber users.
- Audio and Video Conferencing – With integration to WebEx, use Jabber to launch or join a WebEx meeting.
- Telepresence Soft Client – Use Jabber to call other telepresence devices or a multi-point video bridge.
- Screen Share and Screen Control – Share your screen or your mouse with other Cisco Jabber users.

**IMPORTANT NOTE FOR macOS USERS
The Cisco Jabber client for macOS here at NC State requires an InCommon Certificate that is not included with macOS by default. The certificate must be added to the user’s keychain. Please follow the guidance notes.

- Visit the Self Service page to enable the service. The page will open in a new tab. **Note: VPN required to access the Self Service page when off-campus.
- Click the Jabber Chat Services – Multiplatform option to enable ONLY the chat client.
- Click the Jabber Chat Services – Multiplatform option AND the Jabber Softphone option to enable BOTH Chat and Softphone features.
- You must enable the service for EACH of the devices you wish to use Cisco Jabber Softphone.
- Once you have enabled the service(s), close the tab.
- Download the software (or install the App) for each device:

- Upload a Profile Picture – Faculty / Staff Accounts.

Go to Cisco Jabber for Mac Upgrade Info and click the download link. You should see something to the effect of “InCommon RSA Server CA.crt or .cer.
